The Assistant Manager is someone who is passionate about food and customer service. They are a problem solver with strong work ethic, impeccable integrity and experienced leadership skills. The Assistant Manager understands that customer satisfaction always takes priority but efficient restaurant operations make it possible. The Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the restaurant, including the selections, development and performance management of employees. Additionally, they oversee the inventory and ordering of food, beverages and supplies, optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their dining experience. They report to the General Manager and Operations Manager.
Assistant Manager General Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant with passion, integrity and knowledge and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service.
Promote the branding, culture and values of Fox & Goose Public House.
Effectively manage the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager and Operations Manager.
Diligently and faithfully perform all of the duties and functions as assigned by the General Manager, Company Owner, and Operations Manager accurately, on time and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Assistant Manager Financial/HR Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Adhere to Company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.
Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting), personnel-relate, and payroll-related administrative duties, including employee benefits, are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with Company policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
Maintain and ensure confidentiality of all Company financial, personnel, payroll and administrative information as outlined in the Fox & Goose Company Confidentiality Agreement.
Assistant Manager Food Safety/Planning Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of all kitchen and dining areas.
Consistently monitor and ensure compliance with operational standards, Company policies, and federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation, presentation and service.
Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
Estimate food and beverage costs. Work with Upper Management for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
Supervise portion control, garnishing and quantities of preparation to minimize waste and ensure consistency of presentation.
Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
Must be ServSafe certified and maintain current certification at all times throughout employment.
Must uphold all ServSafe guidelines.
Assistant Manager Operational Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets.
Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
Manage shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
Oversee execution of catering and private dining orders.
Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement creative solutions to areas of improvement.
Assist in new menu implementation.
Monitor and maintain all Company equipment and services, including the Micros POS system.
Follow all Company policies and procedures and implement new Company policies and procedures as directed by the General Manager, Operations Manager, and Operations Manager by developing plans and instructing staff.
Assistant Manager Personnel/Supervision Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise 25+ employees each shift.
Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
Interview and check references of hourly employees.
Direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.
Conduct orientations and oversee and conduct employee training.
Explain and reinforce the Fox & Goose Public House Philosophy and culture.
Oversee the training and coaching of new and existing employees on the Company guest principles and practices.
Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
Identify employee weaknesses and retrain as necessary.
Thoroughly document and execute employee disciplinary actions promptly.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is properly staffed for all shifts.
Assist in any areas of the restaurant when staffing constraints require.
Assistant Manager Community Involvement Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide strong presence in local community and high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel.
Assistant Manager Personal Requirement Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing personality.
Pleasant, polite manner, respectful and a neat and clean appearance.
Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff and customers.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.
Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants
Assistant Manager Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Keep General Manager and Operations Manager promptly and fully informed of all issues, problems, unusual matters of significance, positive events, etc. and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
Communicate all matters of significance to Company operations daily with the rest of the Management team via the Manager Log, promptly, fully and in detail.
Reference the Manager Calendar daily and completing tasks by each assigned date. Mark each assigned task completed daily and only after the task has been completed.
Complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a safe, cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency and effectiveness.
At all times provides a favorable image of Fox & Goose Public House.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Assistant Manager anticipated working conditions:
A typical work week is approximately 40 hours, however hours may vary as business or emergencies dictate to fill in for his/her employees, respond to emergencies that arise, and meet additional management duties or needs.
Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level, including delivery when needed.
Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.
Assistant Manager Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
Prior Restaurant and Management experience.
Proficiency in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, Company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
Must have reliable transportation.
Knowledge of computers, including email and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Able to use touch-sensitive POS system.
Able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Able to work in a high-temperature kitchen for an extended period of time.
Completed training in all areas of the restaurant.
Must be able to take direction and delegate responsibility.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Must have current Management ServSafe Certification, ABC Alcohol Training Certification, valid I-9 Identification Documentation and must be eligible to work in the United States of America.
